The longtime dream of an on-campus fieldhouse at the University at Buffalo will soon be a reality. University at Buffalo Director of Athletics Allen Greene announced on Friday that the university has secured the services of Rochester-based LeChase Construction as the general contractor and New York-based architecture firm CHA for the project. The 92,000-square-foot indoor practice facility will be situated just beyond the north end zone of UB Stadium on the university’s North Campus. Construction is slated to begin in October with a completion date tentatively scheduled for the spring of 2019.

  • Over 4,000,000 cubic feet of indoor space

  • Premier sized indoor practice facility matching the best in the country

  • Option for four recreational fields, each 95′ x 180′

  • 187′ x 398′ of synthetic turf infill system with full football field striping, end zones, and safety clearances

  • Over 6,000 square feet of rubber track surface for sprint practice including long/triple jump and pole vault pits

  • Four motorized suspended softball hitting tunnels

  • 1,300 linear feet of motorized athletic divider netting

  • Public Address system

  • Substantial storage space

  • Two large overhead roll-up doors for ease of moving equipment and furniture

  • Capability of hosting non-sports gatherings of over 4,000 people

  • Over 66′ indoor overhead clearance at peak of roof

  • 15,000 square feet of filtered daylight wall panels

  • 156 high-efficiency LED light fixtures

  • Two multi-level indoor filming/viewing towers, 24′ and 36′ high

  • 30′ tall mechanical unit tower providing 95,000 cubic feet of supply air per minute

  • Additional custom cross-ventilation system for substantial air cooling at field surface.

  • 6,000 tons of foundation concrete

  • Over 80 tons of steel reinforcing bars

  • Over 9,000 tons of structural steel

  • Over three miles of cabling and wiring

  • 100,000 square feet of metal roofing/insulation system
